Richmond, VA-- Virginia State Police say the bus driver died and a passenger sustained minor injuries as a result of this morning's tour bus crash.

Singer Miley Cyrus was not on board. Investigators say the bus hit an embankment and rolled over.

Sergeant Thomas Molnar told WFMY New 2 the driver's health conditions could be the reason behind the crash. He said alcohol was not a factor.

The driver, 53-year-old William Douglas of Austin, Texas, was trapped inside the bus and died at the scene.

48-year-old Marty Zilio of Canada, got hurt in the crash. He is a member of Cyrus' production team. Emergency crew members transported Zilio to Southside regional Medical Center where he received treatment for minor injuries.

Officers said there were 10 people on the bus when it crashed.

Investigators say the roads were wet when the accident occurred but they are not blaming weather as a cause. The crash happened on I85 at mile marker 55 near a rest stop in Dinwiddie County, which is 45 minutes south of Richmond.

All I-85 lanes are now open again. Clean up is expected to take at least two hours and the investigation is on-going, we're told.

VSP says the bus was heading to Greensboro, North Carolina where the singer is scheduled to perform in concert on Sunday.

The Cyrus family released a statement about the crash on the teen star's website:

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill "Uncle Bill" Douglas. Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed."

A tour promoter says that Sunday's concert at the Greensboro Coliseum will go on as scheduled.
