
Nashville, TN -- The Nasvhille/Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the 24th Annual Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards Friday night.
The reception was held at the BMI headquarters on Music Row in Nashville, TN. BMI's Senior Director of Media Licensing, Mason Hunter who serves on the board of governors of the academy hosted the nomination party.
WFMY News 2 was selected among other broadcast station contenders in two different categories for the following:
Business/Consumer Report- Tough Cell Phone, Tanya Rivera, Alan Wagmeister, WFMY
Magazine Program- 2009 Summer Fun Guide, Eric Dappen, Geoff Johnson, WFMY
NATAS National Trustee Gene Policinski of the First Amendment Center announced the inductees into the Silver Circle honoring quarter-century contributions to broadcasting. WFMY News 2 Anchor, Sandra Hughes is among the inductees. Hughes has been with the station since 1972.
Nascar champion, Darrell Waltrip will host the live telecast of the 24th Midsouth Emmy Awards on January 30, 2010 at the Schmerhorn Symphony Center.
