Asheboro, NC -- Neighbors in one Asheboro community kicked off the holiday with a parade of their own.

Northmont Estates residents came together for their ninth annual parade. Families decorated their bikes, cars, and more to ride down the street.

One spectator, Michael Beasley, says the homemade touch is part of what makes this parade so special. "This is more of a hometown community get together, and its got a lot more fun, you know it takes the hustle and bustle of the pushing around of the parades of the big cities. It's something the kids like to get out and do, look around, and they can have fun, enjoy it, jump around and its just basically everybody can get together as a big family."

This year, neighbors collected toys and donated them to Duke Children's Hospital.
