Greensboro, NC -- There is an art to ringing bells with the Salvation Army, and the Greensboro Boomers and Beyond group is getting lessons from the pros.
Members from the Music Academy of North Carolina were at Tuesday's special meeting. They showed the group how to play their favorite Christmas carols with hand bells. And while it's a little tricky, it's also fun. "You ring the bell according to the way that note comes in the music, and these folks here have really enjoyed it," said retired Salvation Army Major Robert Boyce The Salvation Army has held the bell ringing session for the past two years. Organizers say it helps bring holiday cheer to not only the elderly in the group, but also neighbors in the community.
