Investigators say the crash happened when a car traveling north on Highway 62, tried to make a left turn onto Hopewell Church Rd and turned into the path of a 4 Runner SUV that was traveling south on the highway. The collision caused the SUV to overturn and come to rest on the right shoulder of the highway. There were four people in the SUV and two people in the car.

Troopers said the driver of the SUV was flown to Baptist Hospital, they identified him as Amjad Khan, 31. His father who was a passenger in the vehicle was transported to High Point Regional but died a short time after arriving. He was identified as Taj Kahn,58.

The other four patients were all taken to High Point Regional for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The investigating Trooper told WFMY, they will decide on charges after they meet with the District attorney's office next week. He said alcohol was not a factor and everyone was wearing seatbelts.
