Gibsonville, NC -- Something's missing at the Williams' house. It's not laughter; it's not love; it's about 55 pounds.

"I went to NJ and some of my friends were telling me how much weight I had gained, and I hadn't noticed, but I came back I had an appointment with the doctor and found out I weighed 196. I had normally weighed 185," says Lenny Williams, mayor of Gibsonville.

Mayor Williams joined the Guilford County Mayor's Challenge to lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks. "The first thing I did was I stopped drinking sodas, I love Pepsi, so I stopped drinking sodas, start drinking water, start walking."

Little did he know his daughter and grandson were making some of the same changes.

"I knew that I couldn't give up all the carbs and all the fat, so I reduced everything, and just watched the intake, and don't eat after 6:30, and also I dance every day... no crunches to hard workout, one hour of straight hip hop dancing," says daughter Evelyn Woodard.

The mayor's grandson started working out at a boxing gym.

"Now people look at me like I look so much better and they can't get enough of me," says Antoine Sierra.

The family stats are impressive: Antoine has lost 20 pounds; Evelyn, 27; and Mayor Williams is down 8 and counting.

"I feel great," says the mayor.

You can see him most days at Murrell Park in Gibsonville.. still in his collared shirt and slacks, under a hat and headphones, sometimes with his grandson by his side.

"I'm proud of my dad; if he was 400 pounds I'd be proud of my dad, but the weight loss is great, but he needs smaller pants."

The Mayors Weight Loss Challenge to lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks runs through next week, and you can still sign up.
