Winston-Salem, NC -- A husband is dead, and his wife remains in the burn center, after a fire at their house.
The fire started before 11:30 on East Sprague Street on Thursday night.
Firefighters say Laura Vgoreck jumped from a second story window to escape. Rescuers found her husband, Michael, inside the house. He was unconscious and was not breathing. EMS workers performed CPR and resuscitated him, but he later died. Laura is in the burn center at Baptist Medical Center.
Firefighters don't know what caused the fire, but say it started in an eating area in the kitchen. They say the fire did about $90,000 worth of damage between the home and contents inside.
