Greensboro, NC -- A Greensboro couple is fighting for the right to house "urban chickens."
Amy Williams and Brian Talbert have a chicken coop in their backyard. They rely on their hens for fresh eggs, free from hormones. The hens also eat fleas and other bugs.
But according to the City of Greensboro, the hen's home is in violation of an ordinance. The city requires chicken coops to be at least fifty feet from any property line. The couple's Lindley Park yard is only 75 feet across.
Williams and Talbert plan to fight for an amendment to the ordinance in Greensboro. They say they'd even be willing to pay for a permit.
