Photos Released: Newborn Abandoned In McDonald's Restroom

Charlotte -- A baby was abandoned at a McDonald's restroom in Charlotte early Wednesday morning.

Police received a call around 9:15am about an abandoned baby in a McDonald's restroom.

"We found a newborn in the ladies room and I think it's freshly out it still has it's imbilical cord and it's naked." This quote is from 911 recordings obtained by WBTV in Charlotte.

People at the restaurant told police a man was seen taking the baby into the women's restroom, then running out the door.

Charlotte-Mechlenburn Police report that paramedics believe the child is only 2-3 hours old. The child was left in a car seat and was sleeping.

The baby is male and was rushed to the hospital, where he is doing fine.

There is no details on the description of the suspect.

North Carolina law does offer legal protection for mothers who abandon children to a safe environment.
