Wheaton, MN -- A funeral is scheduled Wednesday for a 14-month-old girl who was fatally hit with a baseball bat when two men stormed a prayer group in western Minnesota.
Aundrea Hankins died at a hospital a few hours after Thursday's attack inside Thy Kingdom Come Church in Wheaton, Minnesota. The child's alleged attackers were jailed on assault charges.
The church ministers to people with drug and alcohol addictions, and Pastor Danny Barnes says both suspects appeared to be under the influence of alcohol when they arrived at the church.
He says Aundrea's father and others were praying when one of the men burst in swinging the bat and hit the child in the head. Barnes says the other man arrived moments later wielding a two-by-four.
The Rev. Barnes says the attack stemmed from a dispute over a washer and dryer.
