Webster, NY -- Thousands of mourners gathered in Webster, New York Sunday for the funeral of Lieutenant Michael Chiapperini.
Lt. Chiapperini is one of the two West Webster firefighters fatally shot by William Spengler when they arrived at the scene of a fire Spengler had set at his home on Christmas Eve.
Chiapperini also served on the force of the Webster Police Department.
Hundreds of firefighters and police, from Buffalo, Rochester and across New York State were in attendance to pay their respects to their fallen brother.
The service at Schroeder High School started around noon.
His wife Kimberly Chiapperini described him as a loving, devoted, husband and father, who made her life richer.
Funeral services for Tomasz Kaczowka, the other firefighter who was killed, will be held on Monday.
