Paris, France -- A house in a quiet Paris suburb has received hundreds of visitors desperate for a chance to see an icon of the Virgin Mary that is weeping oil, according to reports.
Esat Altindagoglu, owner of the icon, reports that 200 people per day have been heading to his door in Garges-les-Gonesse, hoping to see the 'miracle.' The icon, a one-foot high painting, was given to Esat's wife Sevin by a Lebanese priest on her birthday in 2006. It has apparently been weeping oil since February 12. According to the Greek-orthodox couple, many visitors believe the oil to have healing properties. Sevin claims one woman who was unable to have a child came in mid-February and called recently to say she had been made fertile. The couple are hoping to have the miracle made official by the Vatican. There have been hundreds of incidents of 'weeping' statues over the years, but only one, Our Lady of Akita in Japan, was ever officially ruled a miracle.
