12-12-12 Sandy Benefit Concert

New Jersey shore hero Bruce Springsteen was the opening act at a benefit concert to help neighbors in the New York metropolitan area hit hard by Superstorm Sandy. Springsteen and his E Street Band began Wednesday's concert with a roar and call to arms in "Land of Hope and Dreams" and "Wrecking Ball." Springsteen was among many artists with ties to the area scheduled to be onstage at Madison Square Garden for the concert, also featuring Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, Alicia Keys and the Rolling Stones. The sold-out show was being broadcast worldwide on television, in theaters, online and on radio. From ticket sales alone, the concert already raised more than $30 million to help Sandy victims in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The October storm left millions of people without heat or electricity for weeks.
