Kernersville, NC -- FedEx Ground's new transportation hub is about 17-months away from opening in Guilford County.
Construction workers are making progress on the 400,000 square foot facility near Kernersville.
The new hub is designed to put the company's current Home Delivery and FedEx Ground locations under one roof when it opens in September 2011.
About 350-jobs will transfer to the new facility, but it's also expected to create 150-new jobs plus 100-new independent contractor jobs.
"We do not anticipate any changes in our planning. Everything is still on schedule. The company is still growing doing very well and we don't expect or anticipate any changes are going to impact any of our numbers and projected opening," explained Senior Vice President, John Payne.
Guilford County Commissioners approved an incentive package worth $952,500 over three years.
FedEx ground could be eligible for its first incentive payment later this year.
