Raleigh, NC-- Checking an old greeting cards paid off big time for a North Carolina Woman.
She found an old Valentine's Day Card with a powerball ticket worth $600,000.00. Judy Carpenter of Bryson City bought a Powerball ticket for the February 13 drawing and then misplaced it in her house.
She was going through some old greeting cards and found the ticket stuck inside the card.
Carpenter checked the numbers on the North Carolina Education Lottery website and says she was in total shock when she saw that was worth $600,000.00.
Her ticket matched all five white balls and was Power Played. The Power Play number for the Feb. 13 Powerball drawing was three which increased the $200,000 prize to $600,000.
Carpenter bought her ticket at Catamount Travel Center on Highway 441 North in Whittier.
She says she picked random numbers when filling out the Powerball play slip.
Carpenter plans to invest her winnings for retirement.
