Temple City, CA -- The election for his seat on the Temple City council ended in a two-way tie. The city lacks provisions to hold a runoff vote, so the incumbent proposed breaking the tie with a coin toss. Then he called tails, and lost.

The winner refused to take part in the coin toss, which was held in council chambers. He'll be sworn in next week, though he said he would have been happy to hold another vote.

He adds that he feels sorry for his opponent. In his words, "This was no way to lose an election."
