Collbran, CO -- A stand-off with a bear in downtown Collbran brought quite a crowd this weekend.

A 200 pound black bear climbed up a tree off of Main Street and wouldn't come down. The bear was about 30 feet up the tree and drew lots of spectators with cell-phones and cameras.

Traffic had to be ushered along as drivers slowed down to catch a glimpse.

It took six tranquilizer darts from the Division of Wildlife to knock out the bear after a nearly four hour standoff, but then it got stuck. A wildlife officer had to climb the tree to dislodge the bear's leg.

The DOW said the bear's been seen in town for a while, getting into trash cans and chicken coops. They even tried to shoot it with bean-bags the day before to scare it off.

The bear was taken back to Grand Junction, before being re-located.
