Columbus, NC -- A woman walked into a Lowe's Home Improvement store in Arden hoping for help in finding a missing wedding ring, and got more than she hoped for.
The Times-News of Hendersonville reports Haskell Staton, a Lowe's employee and metal detector hobbyist, offered to help Lauri Ross and her husband find the ring.
Last week, Staton and fellow hobbyist Don Brewer traveled to the couple's home in Columbus and after about an hour of searching, found the ring in a tangle of vines in the yard.
Staton says he's found everything from car keys to an 18-karat gold ring with his metal detector.
Ross says she's grateful to the men, who didn't take any payment other than coffee and chocolate cake.
