Barnegat Twp, NJ -- Two New Jersey police officers risked injury to themselves to save a man from a burning vehicle, and the whole thing was captured on tape.
Monday night Officer Lauren Keilitz and Officer Michael Diblasi responded to reports of a car fire on Biscayne Road at about 8:45 p.m. Shortly after the officers arrived, they found 57-year old Mario Dischiavi incapacitated in the driver's seat of the vehicle which was fully engulfed in flames.
Despite the flames and heavy smoke pouring out of the vehicle, Officers Keilitz and Diblasi were able to get the car door open and pull Dischiavi to safety.
Dischiavi was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center with smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
