High Point, NC -- People often fall in love in unusual places, but for two Triad senior citizens, their love story tops the charts.

Jean Ritch and Jim Peters met on the chair volleyball court at the senior center.

Ritch, who's been single for 43 years, said she never thought about getting married again.

Peters thought the same.

"My first wife passed in 2004, and I never thought I'd get married again," said Peters.

The two met as Ritch was trying to recruit Peters to join her team.

"I was a team captain and I was trying to find some players that would make my team win, and he was a good player, so I asked him to join our team," she said.

Peters wasn't sold on the game at first, but that changed quickly.

"Once I played, I kind of got hooked on it. One thing lead to another," he said.

That was a year and a half ago.

They soon started dating. And after a year of courtship, they got engaged.

"It's just wonderful, all of our years ahead of us that we won't have to be alone anymore. It's just going to be wonderful," said Ritch.

Ritch said she's lucky to have met Peters. Even though he said, he's the lucky one.

"We could have met anywhere, I guess, but we just happened to meet playing chair volleyball," said Peters.

The couple's grandchildren were their attendants at their wedding Friday night.

Of course, all of their chair volleyball teammates were invited to the wedding. In fact, the choir from the senior center sang at the ceremony.
