Winston-Salem, NC - Danny Kelly's first time in the pool was at the age of 12, one year later at the age of 13 he became totally blind.  That disability did not stop him from achieving Olympic dreams though.

Kelly competed for the U.S. Paralympic Swim team in Sydney (2000), Atlanta (1996), and Barcelona (1992).   All told he won 17 medals.

His featured stroke was the backstroke but he also competed in the 200 (IM) individual medley and the 100 fly.

Kelly now serves as the Vice President of Operations for Winston-Salem's Industries for the Blind.
