New York, NY -- Marley the spaniel is back home with 7-year-old Mia Bendrat and her family. The pooch was returned Christmas Day after he was swiped Monday. The family had left Marley tied up outside a grocery store while shopping in upper Manhattan.
Across town, a stranger later spotted a man trying to sell the dog. Tina Cohen tells WINS-AM she bought Marley for 220 bucks.
She says she thought something was fishy and wanted to have the dog scanned by a veterinarian for an ID microchip. Marley had one, which led to his owners. Police have busted a 29-year-old suspect on a grand larceny charge.
