La Crosse, Wisconsin -- The Polar Plunge benefitting the Special Olympics kicked off at noon at Pettibone Beach. People taking the plunge raise money and then run into the freezing cold water. There are hot tubs set up for them after they make it out.

Organizers say it's a fun way for people to take on the Wisconsin cold while also raising money for the Special Olympics.
