St. Petersburg, FL -- A former governor Florida used Twitter Friday to announce he's changing his party affiliation.
Former Gov. Charlie Crist tweeted: "Proud and honored to join the Democratic Party in the home of President @BarackObama!"
Along with the tweet came a photo of Crist holding his voter registration application. The former Republican governor signed the papers, changing his affiliation from independent to Democrat, at a White House Christmas reception.
After serving as the Republican governor of Florida, Crist left the part and ran for the U.S. Senate as an independent; he lost in a three-way contest to Republican Marco Rubio.
