Greensboro, NC -- U.S. Representative Howard Coble announced Friday that he will seek reelection for a 14th term.
Coble has represented the 6th District of North Carolina since 1985.
The 80-year-old Representative spent around two weeks in the hospital in December recuperating from the effects of an upper respiratory illness that depleted his sodium levels.
Coble said his physician described him as a "young 80." He would not say if this would be his last election.
Even though other politicians have complained about bickering, Coble said he still believes he has more to accomplish.
"Oftentimes people say to me, 'I don't see how you can put up with all that up there.' I say, 'It's self-inflicted. Nobody forces me to run for office. And, I try to do the best I can once I'm elected. I hope that will be the case later on this year," Coble said.
Coble said he plans to focus on health care and immigration reform. He also wants to reduce regulations that come from Washington.
