Candor, N.C. - Voters in Candor are not backing down nearly two months after Candor town commissioners fired most of the police department.

Concerned citizens plan to speak out again at Monday night's commissioner meeting.

"Our whole goal, since there's not really anything going on this month, is to just take up their time and make them sit there and listen to the disgruntled citizens of the town of Candor," resident George Myers said.

Two weeks ago, commissioners hired Johnny Fulp to be the new police chief. The state is still processing his paperwork, so he hasn't been sworn in yet. He's already preparing for the job.

"I've been basically talking to the folks in the Candor area because I want to do a great job. I'm basically evaluating to see where I can step in and start pulling the community together."

Fulp will be in charge of the hiring process for future officers once he takes over as chief. So, News 2 asked him if he'd consider hiring back any of the four officers commissioners fired.

WFMY News 2 Reporter Mark Geary:
"Would you consider bringing them back?
Incoming Candor Police Chief Johnny Fulp:
"They have an opportunity to submit an application."
Geary:
"So you, would consider them?"
Fulp:
"I'd consider them just as much as I would anyone else."

Fulp told WFMY News 2 he's eager to get started once the paperwork gets processed.
