Stokes County, NC -- Stokes County District Attorney and Stokes County Animal Control have come to an agreement with the couple responsible for running a puppy mill on their property in Danbury.
Willis and Lucille Mabe were charged with 27 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty after investigators visited their Danbury property and found more than 150 dogs, many in need of immediate medical care.
The District Attorney will dismiss the charges on condition that the Mabes comply with certain terms.
The agreement between Stokes County and the Mabes states that the Mabes cannot own or operate an animal breeding or animal sales business for two years and the case against them can be reopened for prosecution at any time within that two year period.
Stokes County Animal Control will also have access to inspect the Mabes Danbury property at any time for prohibited animal related activities.
