Wilkesboro, NC-- A mother is facing charges of leaving her children behind in a retail store.
Wilkesboro Police said they received a call Thursday around 3:14pm from the manager at Dollar General. He told officers that two children were in the store and their mother had left them.
Police said when they got to the store, the children ages two and 6 years old were very upset. Officers looked at store video and saw a woman come in and then a few minutes later two small children came inside.
The woman, identified as Kelleigh Hoke mother of the children is then seen leaving the store without the children and driving out.
While police were investigating, Hoke returned and told officers she had left the children in the car and was unaware that they had gotten out and gone inside the business.
The store manager told officers Hoke was a frequent customer but until Thursday he didn't know she had children.
The Wilkes County Magistrate issued a warrant on Hoke for Misdemeanor Child Abuse.
