Greensboro, NC -- Police say someone intentionally set fire to a rental property Friday night that's owned for a local businesswoman.
Officers say someone started the fire at 618 Marsh Street at 9:06 p.m. and caused $35,000 dollars in damage. The property is owned by Gladys Shipman.
Shipman doesn't live there and no one was home when the fire started. Tax documents show the Marsh Street address listed as Shipman's "location" on some tax bills for the Shipman Family Home Care business.
The company and its owner have made headlines in recent weeks because the state and federal governments say she owes them millions of dollars in medicaid overpayments.
On two recent occasions, her employees either weren't paid on time or had trouble cashing their paychecks.
Greensboro police watch commanders say the fire likely is not tied to any of Shipman's business happenings, but perhaps a domestic issue in the residence.
