Greensboro, NC -- The Greensboro Citizen's Academy will have its first graduating class in five years.
The class of 30 people had its final class Thursday night, and they are set to graduate next week.
The Citizen's Academy allows community members to ride along with officers, learn about various roles within the department, and officers' duties.
On Thursday night, citizens were given the chance to try the FATS(fire arms training simulator) machine. Through a virtual machine, students were presented with different scenarios and had to decide whether to fire their gun. Scenarios included a school shooting, suicide attempt, and domestic violence call.
After fifteen sessions on a variety of different topics, the class concluded Thursday night at the real firing range.
News 2's Liz Crawford particpated in the class. On Thursday, she fired a gun for the first time.
Classes started in February.
