Men Tricked After Asking For Directions; Attacked

(Greensboro, NC)  --  On 9-11-2012 at 10:45 P.M. officers responded to Clegg St in reference to a discharge of firearm call.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a witness who said he heard several gunshots and then witnessed an altercation in the street.

Officers were unable to locate any victims and began searching for evidence and speaking with residents. During the investigation the victims, Gregory Powell, black male, 65 years old and Kenneth Cannon, black male, 67 years old returned to the scene.

The men stated they were on High Point Rd. and stopped at a convenience store to get directions. They met two females who offered to have the victims follow them back to the interstate. The victims followed the two females to a dead end street where two male subjects got out of the suspect vehicle, brandished firearms and demanded money from the victims. A struggle ensued between the victims and male suspects and Mr. Powell was struck in the face with a gun. The victims were able to run from the area and the suspects discharged there firearms as the victims were fleeing.

Mr. Powell suffered a non life-threatening injury to his face and refused medical treatment. Mr. Cannon did not suffer any injuries.

The suspects were described as two black females in their early twenty's and two black males in their late twenty's. The suspect vehicle was a white, newer model, 4 door passenger vehicle.
