Greensboro, NC-- The North Carolina National Guard's 113th Sustainment Brigade is scheduled to return to North Carolina Saturday, October 27, at 1:45pm.
According to a news release from the National Guard, the welcome home will be in Cargo Building 3 at Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTIA). The facility is located at 4250 D Cargo Road in Greensboro.
Friends, family and fellow Soldiers will welcome nearly 300 Soldiers back home in a brief ceremony at Building 3 after the Soldiers' plane land at PTIA.
The Soldiers deployed to Kuwait and served in Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, Oman, Iraq, Jordan in support of Operation New Dawn and Operation Enduring Freedom. The Soldiers executed part of one of the largest logistical drawdowns in U.S. Military history with the withdrawal from Iraq. Their missions ranged throughout Southwest Asia, the Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean and Red Sea supervising the transport of billions of dollars of equipment over thousands of miles supporting combat operations in Afghanistan. They managed the deployment of thousands of military personnel daily across the warzone.
The Soldiers earned 224 Army Commendation Medals, 76 Army Achievement Medals, 76 Meritorious Service Medals, 10 Bronze Star Medals and one Legion of Merit Medal. The Brigade's Soldiers are experts in command and control for combat service and combat service support units.
