Winston-Salem, NC - The New York City Marathon is not the biggest obstacle the Clark family has faced.

The Clark family of five has overcome several major health issues in the last few years. Debbie, the mother, had a severe case of vertigo and could barely walk. Her husband, Robert, was diagnosed with prostate cancer 3 1/2 years ago. He is now in remission after a successful surgery.

The family decided to run the NYC Marathon, but now Sandy's destructive path has disrupted their travel plans. The family is determined to go, Debbie and her son are flying from Piedmont Triad International Airport to Boston Logan International Airport before driving four hours south to NYC. Robert and their other son and daughter left Friday, but they all plan to meet sometime before Sunday's run.

The Clark family is running with the team name "Gravy Train." Visit their website to learn more and make a donation.
