Troy, MO-- An area bank has one of its presidents to thank for saving it from a successful robbery.

The suspect was probably not expecting to be caught by the man who held him until police arrived to make the arrest.

"I wasn't excited at all at the time. I got more excited after it was over. My mind went into work mode, I knew what I had to do, and how to protect my people. I just wanted to make sure we got him out of here," said David Thompson, President of People's Bank and Trust in Troy, MO.

Police say around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday a masked man walked out of the bank, carrying around $5,000. But Thompson has a conceal and carry permit.

He followed the man. Then, he got help holding him down at gunpoint until police arrived.

The suspect, 58-year-old Donald Lee of Troy, Missouri, is now charged with robbery. He was also a customer at the bank.
