Winston-Salem, NC -- A man was killed in an early morning, single-car accident Saturday, police say.
Carl Obyrne, 39, of Kernersville, was driving his 1999 Dodge Caravan on U.S. Hwy 421 South around 2 a.m. The driver was exiting at Reidsville Road when he lost control.
His van slid off the right shoulder and hit a tree.
Investigators say Obyrne died on the scene. They also say alcohol and speed were factors in the accident.
Winston-Salem police's Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating.
