Oak Ridge, NC -- In 2011, a couple welcomed a baby boy into the world, after her delivery didn't turn out as planned Valentine's Day morning.
Amber Engel was on her way to Moses Cone's Women's Hospital the morning of February 14, 2011 when her delivery just couldn't wait.

Her husband, Jeremy, called 911 around 7:45 am saying he was on Bryan Blvd. near Benjamin Parkway to ask for help with his wife's delivery. The couple was sitting on the side of the road in their minivan.
"My wife is having a baby. We didn't make it to the hospital," said Jeremy on the 911 call.

Fire, EMS and police crews were on their way to the area while the 911 operator talked the nervous dad through the steps to deliver his son.

Jeremy: Okay, the head is out. I don't know what to do man! You got to get me someone who's registered and knows what to do.

Operator: I'm getting help. Listen to me. You need to support the baby's head and shoulders, okay?
Jeremy: Okay. I got the baby. I caught the baby.

The operator then walked the new father through steps on how to clean, wrap and prepare the newborn for paramedics.
"That came so fast. I guess you're not getting the epidural, honey," the new dad joked while they waited for emergency crews to arrive.
Amber and her newborn son, Colin, were taken to the hospital where they are healthy and recovering. Colin weighed in at seven pounds, three ounces.
"I was trying with all my heart to make it," Amber said in her hospital room Monday afternoon.
Jeremy said, "When she told me to pull over I was like, 'no I don't want to do this, this is not what I wanted to do, this is not how I saw this going down.'
"It's pretty cool being in the delivery room when your baby's being born but it's quite a different thing to actually catch the baby and deliver it," he said.
Colin has two big sisters, but they haven't been able to meet him yet because Moses Cone is restricting visitors 18 and younger because of the flu. He and his mom are expected to go home Tuesday.
"I'm expecting him to live a very fast and furious life at this point and everything else will follow suit," Amber said.
Amber and Jeremy were going to name the baby Colin Alexander, but after their adventure on Bryan Boulevard, they decided on Colin Bryan Engel.
