Triad -- It has been six days since we had a high temperature that was at or above average. It could be next Saturday before we get back to a normal high. By the way, the average high for this date is 57. We reached 47 today.
The cool air is locked in place for a while. Sunday and Monday will reach the mid 40s but the sun will be out. Tuesday and Wednesday are a different story.
A new low pressure system is forming over the Great Plains. It will move across the U.S. and eventually off the east coast. On Tuesday there should be a chilly rain. Highs will be in the mid 40s. The rain will last into Tuesday night. By Wednesday morning, temps could fall enough for snow to mix in. That rain/ snow mix will last through Wednesday and into Wednesday evening.
It is too far out to determine snow totals at this point but accumulating snow is a possibility. We will keep an eye on the system as it progresses.
