Newark, DE -- There aren't too many college students who couldn't use an extra $1,800 in cash. But when that sum of money literally fell into the hands of a University of Delaware student, it didn't stay there. Devon Gluck of Ellicot City, Maryland says when he went to an ATM to make a withdrawal last month, he heard strange noises from the machine.
What happened next was stranger still -- the PNC Bank ATM spit out 18 $100 bills. Gluck tells the News Journal of Newark, Delaware that he took the money with him -- but a few days later decided to return it. He went to a PNC branch and deposited the money with officials there. Turns out the money came from another student's account -- and has been returned to that account. Gluck says a bank manager thanked him for returning the money.
