New York, NY -- A jury in the cannibalism-plot case against a New York City police officer could start deliberating before the end of the week.
The defense ended its case on Tuesday after Officer Gilberto Valle decided not to take the witness stand.
Lawyers are due back in court on Wednesday to discuss jury instructions. Closing arguments are set for Thursday.
Valle was arrested last year on charges he used a fetish website and emails in a plot with three other men to abduct, cook and eat women. The defense says it was all fantasy that never posed a real threat.
The 28-year-old officer faces a potential life term if convicted. He also faces a lesser charge of using a restricted law enforcement database to run names of women.
