Siler City, NC-- People who witnessed a log truck tip over and land on top of pickup truck, probably left the area thinking it didn't end well. Believe it or not, investigators said it did.
The accident happened Wednesday around Noon in Siler City at the Highway 64 west ramp. Gary Tyson, Siler City Police Chief tells WFMY News 2 that the driver of the log truck was exiting off Highway 421 south and getting on to Highway 64 west. As the driver was turning, the load of the log truck shifted causing it to tip over and land on the passenger side of the pickup truck. The pickup truck was waiting at the traffic light.
Chief Tyson said there were two people in the pickup and miraculously no one was injured. The area was closed for about two hours to clean up the load of lumber and to conduct the investigation, Chief Tyson said.
The driver of the truck was cited for:
- No brakes
- Failure to Reduce Speed
- Unsafe tires
