GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A stationary front will remain south of the Piedmont through the weekend.
High pressure will move off the East Coast. This will allow moisture to override the stationary front and bring a chilly rain to the Piedmont for Friday and the weekend.
Enjoy Thursday's nice weather before big changes come Friday. We will see a good bit of sunshine Thursday with high temperatures in the pleasant upper 70s. Tonight clouds will increase and a few showers will likely develop by daybreak Friday.
Periods of chilly rain are likely through the weekend. As rain develops Friday, temperatures will really cool off. This wedge of cool surface air will hold over the Piedmont through the weekend. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will likely only be in the upper 60s. This means highs will be nearly 20 degrees below our normal of 87 for this time of year.
Temperatures will begin to recover by Monday and Tuesday with highs in the upper 70s Monday and lower 80s on Tuesday. There will be a 30 percent to 40 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms both days.
