GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Some students and faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro are upset over a new proposed recreation center that could cost $91 million.
Students, faculty, among some community members held a news conference to protest the new facility. Students say it's unfair to place the burden on them since so many finish their education with mounting student debt loans. But some people are still split over the issue.
UNCG reveals the new student recreation center will ease overcrowding. It will also be able to host larger events on campus including concerts, dances, career fairs among others. It will also hire more students compared to those already working at the old recreation center. Student fees also helped pay for the Elliot University Center, Campus Recreation Center, and athletic facilities.
