Greensboro, N.C. - North Carolina A&T's football has produced a Pro Football Hall of Famer, a two-time Super-Bowl winning defensive lineman, tons of outstanding running backs and even a presidential candidate.

Over the last few seasons, however, the program has not measured up to some of the great eras of the past. New head coach Alonzo Lee is looking to rebuild the Aggies' legacy.

The players reported to camp on Sunday for check-in and equipment pick-up. On Monday, they will participate in a variety of speed and weight lifting tests. Tuesday marks the first day the Aggies will hold an official practice.

The Aggies were picked to finish eighth in the MEAC. They are coming off a season in which they went 3-9 overall and 1-7 in the conference. Two Aggie seniors - defensive end Tyre Glasper and linebacker Andre Thornton - were selected to the All-MEAC preseason second-team defense.

Glasper had 42 tackles last season and 12 tackles for loss. Thornton finished second on the team in tackles last season after leading the Aggies in tackles his first two seasons. He has recorded 221 tackles in his career. The Aggies begin the '09 season on Sept. 5 when they travel to Winston-Salem to face arch-rival Winston-Salem State at Bowman Gray Stadium at 6 p.m.
