Undated -- There's a man who was born and raised right here in the Triad competing in the London olympics.
You probably haven't heard much about him, but he's representing the red, white, and blue. But it's not our red, white, and blue.
Brent LaRue grew up in Kernersville. He ran track in Winston-Salem and went to school at Wake Forest. But while there, he met a student from Slovenia named Ana. They fell in love, got married, and decided to move to Slovenia.
LaRue trained with some Slovenian coaches and talked with members of the Slovenian Athletic Federation about running for their team. After lots of paperwork, he was cleared to run. He'll be wearing Slovenia's red, white, and blue as he competes in the 400 meter hurdles in London.
