CONOVER, N.C. - Two-time Masters winner Bernhard Langer has joined the field for the 11th annual Greater Hickory Kia Classic at Rock Barn, the tournament announced today.
The Champions Tour event begins one week from today at Rock Barn Golf & Spa.
Langer joins a field that already includes Charles Schwab Cup points leader Kenny Perry, defending champion Fred Funk, former Hickory winners Jay Haas, Mark Wiebe, Craig Stadler, Andy Bean and Gary Hallberg as well as Rocco Mediate, Duffy Waldorf, David Frost, Russ Cochran and Jeff Sluman.
In addition, World Golf Hall of Fame members Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie, Larry Nelson, Nick Price, Tom Kite and Curtis Strange will also play.
The field includes the top-four players and 24 of the top-30 players in the Charles Schwab Cup point standings.
Langer is second in the Charles Schwab Cup point standings trailing points leader Kenny Perry by 699 points with four tournaments remaining in the season.
A native of Germany, he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002, and he is the seventh World Golf Hall of Famer in the Greater Hickory Kia Classic field - a tournament record. Langer won the Masters in 1985 and '93, and in 2010, he won both the U.S. Senior Open Championship and the Senior British Open.
He has two Champions Tour wins among eight top-10 finishes this season. Langer, who now lives in Boca Raton, Fla., has played very well at Rock Barn.
He finished third in 2010 and tied for ninth last year, his only previous appearances here.
