Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Bradford Burgess led all scorers with 22
points as the Virginia Commonwealth Rams made easy work of the Towson Tigers
66-43 in Colonial Athletic Association play at the Siegel Center.
Burgess went 8-of-15 from the field and 6-of-11 from three-point range for VCU
(21-5, 12-2 CAA). D.J. Haley tallied a double-double of 10 points and 11
rebounds for the Rams, who are riding a 10-game win streak.
For Towson (1-25, 1-13), Robert Nwankwo recorded 19 points and nine rebounds.
The Tigers have lost three in a row after snapping their record-setting losing
streak on January 28.
VCU shot 44.8 percent from the field in the first half and took a 32-20 lead
into the break. Towson committed 13 turnovers in the half.
A Nwankwo layup with 17:10 remaining cut the Tiger deficit to 11, but they
would get no closer as VCU proceeded to go on a 19-8 run to extend its lead to
54-32 and never looked back.
Towson turned the ball over an astounding 28 times in the game, which led to
35 VCU points.
