Wichita, KS (Sports Network) - Garrett Stutz registered a double-double with
10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds as the Wichita State Shockers ran away
from the Northern Iowa Panthers, 82-57, in Missouri Valley Conference action
at Charles Koch Arena.
Joe Ragland accounted for a game-high 19 points, hitting 5-of-7 shots behind
the three-point line for the Shockers (21-4, 12-2 MVC) as they picked up their
third straight win and the 11th in the last 12 outings overall. David Kyles
contributed 16 points, hitting a perfect 4-of-4 beyond the arc off the bench,
followed by Toure' Murry with 12 points and five assists.
The Panthers (16-10, 6-8) were paced by Seth Tuttle who dropped in 15 points,
while Marc Sonnen chipped in 11 as the team had a brief two-game win streak
snapped.
Wichita State scored the first points of the night and never looked back,
converting not only 53.3 percent from the floor in the first half but also a
staggering 9-of-13 behind the three-point line, en route to a 43-35 advantage
at the break.
In the second half the Shockers continued to have the hot hand, connecting on
58.6 percent from the field as they ran away with a 25-point win.
WSU, which made good on an impressive 12-of-19 out on the perimeter, turned
the ball over just eight times on the night and won the rebounding battle,
34-24.
