Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Robert Nyakundi's 17 points helped lift the SMU
Mustangs over the TCU Horned Frogs 68-62 in non-conference action at Moody
Coliseum.
London Giles scored 14 points for SMU (11-13) and Jeremiah Samarrippas and
Aliaksei Patsevich each netted 10. Samarrippas added seven assists for the
Mustangs, who snap a five-game losing streak.
J.R. Cadot tallied 14 points and nine rebounds for TCU (13-10) while Amric
Fields and Garlon Green scored 12 each and Hank Thorns went for 11 points and
six assists. The Horned Frogs have lost three of four.
Both teams shot well from the floor in the first half, with the Mustangs
connecting on 53.6 percent and the Horned Frogs 56.5 percent, as they took a
37-37 tie into halftime.
The teams played most of the second half within one possession of each other.
After a pair of Fields free throws with 2:06 remaining gave TCU a 59-58 lead,
SMU answered immediately with a Giles three-pointer to retake a lead it would
never give back.
SMU outrebounded TCU, 30-24, and the Mustang bench outscored the Horned Frog
second unit, 14-5.
