Amherst, MA (Sports Network) - Jesse Morgan made 6-of-7 three-point shots and
scored 24 in all as Massachusetts rallied for a 76-67 win over St. Bonaventure
at the Mullins Center.
Chaz Williams totaled 17 points and Terrell Vinson 10 for UMass (18-6, 7-3
A-10), which started the second half on a 14-0 run. That gave the Minutemen a
45-34 lead. They went on a 17-2 run late in the game to cement the win.
Andrew Nicholson had 24 points and nine rebounds for the Bonnies (12-9, 5-4),
who also received 14 points from Chris Johnson.
UMass, winners in four of its last five games, was ahead only 54-51 after
Nicholson's layup with 8:41 remaining. Morgan drained a trio of shots from
beyond the arc during UMass' ensuing 17-2 burst.
The Bonnies held a 35-29 rebounding advantage, but converted just 2-of-16
three-point shots.
St. Bonaventure, which held a 10-point lead in the opening half, made the
score closer than it really appeared because the Minutemen went the final 3:59
without a field goal.
