Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Festus Ezeli scored a game-high 21 points as
the Vanderbilt Commodores registered a 76-61 win over the LSU Tigers in SEC
action at Memorial Gym.
John Jenkins added 20 points and Jeffrey Taylor 19 and six boards for the
Commodores (17-7, 6-3 SEC) as they snapped a two-game slide.
The Tigers (13-10, 3-6) were paced by Storm Warren with 13 points off the
bench, Anthony Hickey and Ralston Turner both added 12 points and Justin
Hamilton 10 and 11 boards as they lost for the fourth time in five games.
Both teams had trouble shooting the ball from three-point range in the first
half, LSU connecting on just 1-of-7 and Vandy 3-of-12, but the team were left
tied at the break, 27-27.
In the second half the Tigers continued to have their issues on the perimeter
(2-of-14), but the Commodores opted to move their efforts closer to the rim
and ended up converting a sensational 65.2 percent from the floor in claiming
the 15-point win.
In a game that saw four ties and 10 lead changes, the visitors turned the ball
over just six times, but also shot a mere 36.9 percent from the field on the
night.
